Erotic Female Nude Sculpture Medusa 1/4 Scale Jaydee Models Dewar
Medusa 1/4 scale resin statue. Slowly uncoiling from the rocks and moving out from the shadows of her lair emerges one of the greatest mythological monsters of all time, Medusa. Once a beautiful woman but now cursed by the gods with a twisted serpent body and hair of writhing snakes, Medusa has a terrifying power, one glance into her hypnotic eyes will turn any living thing to stone. Few artists can resist sculpting and painting such an intriguing creature and I've been drawn to Medusa many times over the years, several paintings and five sculptures to date, here's my newest version of this mythological icon.
For this sculpture I designed a segmented armoured snake body for Medusa, she is protected against swords, spears and arrows almost her entire body with only her arms and upwards that are vulnerable. She wears chest armour and a neck brace for extra protection against intruders to her lair. For me the best part of sculpting Medusa is always those snakes, looking closely there's two snakes fighting each other and one playful snake pulling at Medusa's ear adding to the sense that all these snakes are alive and thinking, but also linked to Medusa as the bulk of the snakes are looking forward where she's looking. For her pose she's focused on her next victim, beckoning them to look into her eyes, the last thing they'll ever see. Although the top half of Medusa is human, over time the snake scales are slowly moving over her body, eventually she would look completely reptilian.With this in mind I've worked hard to put some emotion and humanity into her expression. For the colours of Medusa I've created a pale skin with the thought that she would rarely leave her lair as that's where she feels safest. For her serpent body I've used a dark base and dry brushed metallic golds, copper and bronze bringing all those fine details to life.
Medusa is 1/5 scale and limited to 50 signed and numbered on the base. She's also available as a model kit for all those that want to do their own unique take on Medusa.
