This amazing replica commemorates the #1 Ford GT40 Mark II created by Carroll Shelby for Ford to campaign in the 1966 24 Hour LeMans race specifically to beat out Ferrari. Driven by Ken Miles and Denny Hulme this car dominated the race and won along with the #2 and #3 Ford GT40 cars also competing. The just released Fox movie, FORD v. FERRARI with Matt Damon and Christian Bale immortalizes this #1 car demonstrating the grit and tenacity of driver Ken Miles and the persistence of Carroll Shelby to push to produce the car and win the race along with the #2 and #3 cars that all crossed the finish line at the same time.
This particular example has been kept since new in a closed glass showcase and is essentially new. It is 16 3/4"L x 7" W x 4H and weighs approx.
The quality of craftsmanship and impeccable attention to detail is evident in all aspects of this masterpiece. Te mirror like paint finish is complemented by a full set of stripes and number decals. The side window vents open as does the fuel fill cap, doors, front hood and rear engine hatch.Scale Dzus clips are installed to secure the front hood and rear engine hatch. In the spare tire compartment you will see real leather straps that secure the tire in place!
Engine features a huge 4 barrel carburetor, tuned exhaust headers, braided fuel and brake lines and chrome valve covers. The interior carries the same level of detail with perforated cloth seats, racing seat belts with buckles, toggle switches, working shift lever, aluminum pedals and the battery situated in the passenger foot well. The carefully replicated knock off wheels feature a removable chrome spinner with a tool to remove it and Goodyear racing tires with realistic tread pattern.
